This is one of the drug catapults found in Mexico recently. This picture doesn't convey how big it really is.
A U.S. National Guard Unit at the Naco Border Patrol Station south of Tucson, Arizona was operating a remote controlled surveillance camera last Friday when they saw men in an SUV pull a trailer-mounted catapult up to the International Border fence and begin shooting packages of marijuana over the fence to the U.S. side.
See the VIDEO below.
The Guard unit contacted the Border Patrol agents and told them what was going on. The U.S. agents contacted Mexican agents who went to the location and caused the men to flee.
Mexican agents captured an SUV, the trailer and catapult, and some of the “ammunition” that had not yet been shot over the fence.
The nine-foot tall catapult was capable of throwing a 4 pound (2 kilo) package of pot a distance of about half a football field.
“This is definitely an unusual find,” US Border Patrol agent Jason Rheinfrank told the Toronto Star.
But not unusual enough. Thursday, Mexican army officers found another catapult in Aqua Prieta. An anonymous tip led them to the second catapult, which was similar to the first.
The video is only a security camera recording, but you can clearly see what is going on:
